Clackamette Cove net pens, Marmot Ponds, and Hublou net pens are operated as satellite facilities to Clackamas Hatchery. Clackamas Hatchery began operation in 1979 and is operated from four funding sources: ODFW, NMFS, Portland General Electric, and the City of Portland. The NMFS funding is part of the Columbia River Fisheries Development Program (Mitchell Act). Portland General Electric and City of Portland provide funding as mitigation for fishery losses caused by hydroelectric development in the Sandy and Clackamas river systems. |

The COE mitigation agreement requires the annual production of no more than 84,000 pounds of juvenile chinook and steelhead to mitigate for hydroelectric development in the North Santiam River. |

Warm Springs NFH, USFWS Warm Springs IHOT Report The hatchery is located on the north bank of the Warm Springs River, a tributary of the Deschutes River, approximately 14 miles north of Warm Springs, Oregon. Warm Springs NFH was authorized in 1966 and began operating in 1978. Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon entered into an agreement with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to stock the waters of the Water Springs Indian Reservation with salmon and trout to increase fishing opportunities. The goal of the hatchery is to produce spring chinook that will contribute to CTWSRO fisheries while providing adequate escapement for hatchery production. |
