Big Creek IHOT Report The hatchery is located 16 miles east of Astoria and is approximately 3 miles upstream from Big Creek's confluence with the Columbia River. Big Creek Hatchery began operation in 1941 as a state-funded facility. It was refurbished in 1957 under the Mitchell Act as part of the Columbia River Fisheries Development Program - a program to enhance declining fish runs in the Columbia River Basin. The purpose of the hatchery is to produce adult salmon and cutthroat trout that will contribute to NE Pacific and Columbia River Basin commercial and sports fisheries. |

Clearwater IHOT Report Clearwater Hatchery, LSRCP, USFWS Clearwater Hatchery along with its three satellite trapping and smolt acclimation stations is the last of the Lower Snake River Compensation Plan facility built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1992. It is located on the north bank of the North Fork of the Clearwater River, 1.8 miles downstream from the Dworshak Dam. The hatchery raises spring chinook salmon and steelhead trout. The hatchery receives 3.5 million eyed steelhead eggs from Dworshak National Fish Hatchery for rearing. The three trapping and acclimation stations, Powell, Red River and Crooked River satellites, each over 120 miles from the Clearwater Fish Hatchery, are required for the trapping and successful spawning of the returning adult salmon. |

Dworshak IHOT Report Dworshak NFH, USFWS Dworkshak NFH, LSRCP, USFWS The hatchery is located at the confluence of the mainstem Clearwater River and the North Fork of the Clearwater river. Dworshak National Fish Hatchery is considered one of the world's largest steelhead trout and spring chinook salmon rearing facilities. The hatchery was built in 1969 to mitigate for the loss of the Clearwater River "B" run steelhead trout as a result of the construction of Dworshak Dam. Additional construction was completed in 1982 under the Lower Snake River Compensation Program (LSRCP). The purpose of the hatchery is to mitigate for loss of summer steelhead and resident trout habitat after the construction of Dworshak Dam on the North Fork of the Clearwater River. Spring chinook production is to mitigate for dams constructed on the lower Snake River. |

Kooskia NFH, USFWS Kooskia IHOT Report The hatchery is located 1.5 miles southeast of Kooskia, Idaho in a narrow valley of Clear Creek, just upstream of the confluence with the Middle Fork Clearwater River. The hatchery was authorized in 1961 to facilitate restoration of depleted, national significant fishery resources. Its first year of operation was 1969. It is currently used for adult collection and rearing of spring chinook. The purpose of the hatchery is to service and enhance the stocks of chinook salmon in Middle Fork Snake River Basin. Adult salmon are trapped at Kooskia from May through August, and transported to Dworshak hatchery for spawning. Eyed eggs are returned to Kooskia in the fall, where they are incubated, hatched and reared. They are released 18 months later into Clear Creek, to migrate 540 miles past 8 dams to the Pacific Ocean. |

| Lookingglass Hatchery | OR | 17060104 Upper Grande Ronde |
Lookingglass, LSRCP, USFWS Lookingglass IHOT Report The hatchery is located along Lookingglass Creek, a tributary of the Grande Ronde River, 2 miles from Palmer Junction in northeast Oregon. Lookingglass Fish Hatchery was built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1982 as part of the Lower Snake River Compensation Program (LSRCP). The hatchery is to return adult chinook salmon, lost because of construction of the four Lower Snake River dams, back to the Imnaha and Grand Ronde Rivers. This objective was established to restore tribal and sport fisheries by producing harvestable surpluses of salmon for the upper Grand Ronde and Imnaha Rivers and also to enhance natural spring chinook populations. In 1985, the hatchery program was expanded to include enhancement of the native population of spring chinook salmon in the Imnaha River, which is a main tributary to the Snake River. |

| Rapid River Hatchery | ID | 17060210 Little Salmon |
Rapid River Hatchery, IDFG The Rapid River Hatchery is located in Idaho County seven miles southwest of Riggins, Idaho. It lies on Rapid River, a tributary of the Little Salmon River. Travel distance for salmon to the ocean is approximately 600 river-miles. The hatchery was constructed in 1964 by the Idaho Power Company. It is operated by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game. All funding for this project is provided by Idaho Power as part of its operating license for Brownlee, Oxbow, and Hells Canyon dams on the Snake River. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission requires Idaho Power to operate this facility to conserve fish runs that were impacted by the construction of the three dam complex. These dams were built without fish passage facilities with the idea that salmon and steelhead would be trapped and trucked around the dams. When this program failed, Idaho Power provided funds to build Rapid River Hatchery and transplant part of the salmon run here to the undamed Salmon River. In addition to this hatchery, Idaho Power also provides funding for Niagara Springs, Oxbow, and Pahsimeroi hatcheries as part of their steelhead and salmon conservation programs. |
