Google Maps at CBR
Columbia Basin Research is now providing access to its data and analysis offerings
via a Google Maps interface. The interface allows for map-based searches of
the CBR database by Province, Subbassin, and hydroelectric project. Check the box of the appropriate search method in the “Markers” area above to turn its associated markers on or off. Click on a marker to display an information window that provides links into the CBR database. The following search types are summarized as follows:
- Province: The Northwest Power and Conservation
Council, Fish and Wildlife Program organizes more than 50 subbasins of the
Columbia River Basin into 11 ecological provinces, which are groups of adjoining
subbasins with similar climates and geology. For information on the Ecological
Provinces, visit the Northwest Power and Conservation
Council website.
- Subbasin: Subbasin plans identify priority
restoration and protection strategies for habitat and fish and wildlife populations
in United States portion of the Columbia River system. For more information
on the Subbasins, visit the Northwest Power and Conservation
Council website .
- Hydroelectric Project: Another way to search the
database is by dam. Adult passage, smolt travel times and survivals, and annual
total dissolved gas, temperature, and flow compliance data from the Status
& Trends database is available through this interface.
The boundaries defining the Provinces and associated Subbasins may also be turned on or off by checking the boxes above in the “Regions” area. These are turned off by default since they slow the download of the map considerably. The region boundaries have also been smoothed for efficiency.
